ITB Experts Give Tips on How to Find Passion in Yourself. Passion is a sense of interest, interest, desire, or passion for doing activities. Working on something that is liked, of course, will make a person more enthusiastic.
Related to that,
a psychiatrist who works at Muhammadiyah Hospital Bandung, Dr. Ayu Prasetia
reviewed passion with two other speakers in the talk show Controlling Our
Emotion: Finding Our Passion which was held at the East CC Auditorium, Bandung
Institute of Technology (ITB), Bandung, West Java.
"Passion is our interest in something that triggers us to act with love and interest," he said on the official campus website, Friday (11/11/2022).
According to him,
passion is a motivating factor for a person to become various things. That way,
they will feel capable and happy to do it.
Passion is
closely related to the process of finding one's own value. Unfortunately, many
are not aware of their self-worth so they have difficulty finding their
passion.
How to Find Passion?
- Getting to Know Yourself
Ayu explained
that the first way to find passion is to recognize each other.
"First, we
have to recognize ourselves and reflect on what we like, what we love to do.
We're interested in where it's going," he said.
After that, only
then can we see a lot of value hidden in ourselves.
- Know Your Interests and Talents
Another resource
person, Dra. Isriana, psychology of Counseling Guidance (BK) ITB revealed that
talent has existed since humans were born. However, many people don't know
exactly what their talents are.
It's different
from interests that can be found throughout life. Doing something that makes
them happy belongs to their interest.
In fact, finding
a passion must go through various long trial and error processes . Moreover, passion has internal and external
impulses. These two factors determine whether a known passion is our true
passion.
In some cases,
there are many mistakes in determining passion. For example, the passion that
is carried out is because according to their parents, even though he is aware that he
actually does not like and does not feel anything from the passion he is
engaged in. If the activity is not happy, then it is not a passion.
- Self-Exploration Through Activities in
the Campus Environment
"There is
nothing wrong with students who are just starting out or in the midst of
searching for their passion in life," explained Altito Apprizal, an ITB
student who was also a resource person at the talk show.
According to
Tito, students can explore various things by participating in activities in the
campus environment, such as organizing and student affairs. This can be one of
the steps in finding passion.
'CARE" Talkshow Becomes An Important Event For Students
The talk show has
benefits in producing alumni graduates who are skilled in the fields of hard
competency and soft competency, as explained by the Vice-Rector for
Academic and Student Affairs ITB Prof. Dr. Ir Jaka Sembiring Meng.
"We can
master these two competencies if we achieve balance in life, then controlling
our emotions can certainly help balance things in life and find answers to our
problems," he explained.
BK ITB supervisor
Ir Hendri Syamsudin MSc Ph.D. also said that ITB is serious enough to guide its
students, especially in the field of emotional control.
Elnaya Pilian
from the Ministry of Education and Mental Health Assistance Cabinet (EPKM)
Student Welfare (KESMA) ITB 2022/2023, added that the event was a form of
advocating for mental health in the campus environment.
"One of the
teachings of OSKM ITB is 'the consequence of an educated person is to educate
others. It is because of this that educating and educating mental health will
continue to be our job as students to help people, and we hope that they can
come home with new knowledge," he said.
