This is because teachers do not use engaging learning media.  Students do not concentrate on learning.  Students do not understand so writing short stories is less effective. Students have not been able to make good use of their time and learning outcomes are not optimal.  Students don't have a real storyline concept yet. Teachers need to choose the right medium for writing short stories in order to be able to create student activity. Teachers can use the medium of comic cards to stimulate motivation to learn to write short stories.  Factors inhibiting short story writing skills include students not being able to express writing ideas quickly. Some students do not have attention to learning to write short stories. Teachers need to find solutions so that students can actively learn and word productivity increases as expected. Teachers need to create a pleasant atmosphere in order for students to be skilled in writing short stories.  Students are accustomed to writing short stories with comic cards.  The use of comic card media can increase the motivation to write short stories.

Implementation of  Learning to Write Short Stories with Comic Card Media

The implementation of learning to write short stories using the medium of comic cards includes planning, continuing implementation, and ending with reflection.   Planning includes 1) making a learning implementation plan, 2) preparing assessment instruments, 3) preparing comic card learning media, 4) preparing materials for writing short stories, and 5)  making learning design.  The implementation of learning is carried out in groups with steps of 1) observing, 2) asking questions, 3) sorting cards, 4) creating short stories, and 5  ) communicating. 

Instruments for Retrieving Data  on Writing Short Stories

 Instruments used to retrieve data on writing short stories in the form of tests and nontests.  Writing test instrument to measure the skill of producing short story writing words using the medium of comic cards.  The test is in the form of quantitative data on short story writing skills.   Non-test instruments to measure student behavior when participating in learning.  Non-tests are qualitative data from observations of student activity during learning.  Learning to write short stories with comic cards can improve students' writing skills.  Students write short stories very enthusiastically in the medium of comic cards because it makes it easier for students to understand the content, characterization, characters, and setting being read.  

Benefits of Using Comic Cards

Comic cards in cartoon form easily reveal the character of the character.  In addition,  the role of the performer of the story is illustrated and designed to provide entertainment. Comic card media can be used as a  learning medium for writing short stories because it has a simple nature in its presentation,  has elements of story sequences that contain messages, and is presented in a   Compact as well as easy to digest.  The use of comic card media can improve short story writing skills at SMP Negeri 2 Brangsong.
